Where to buy the Cheapest Baby Milk Powder in Singapore

By Money Saving Daddy

If you are looking for the cheapest baby milk powder in Singapore. Then I am gonna tell you. There isn't any. All the prices are fixed in major supermarkets. And how cheap can it be?

It is like trying to buy the cheapest car in Singapore.

Milk powder cost has always been an issue in Singapore.  (Other essential items cost also big issue)

Our minister also encourages us not to buy expensive milk powder. But the thing is, is there even cheap milk powder?

And from Straits Times, they tabulate the past 10 years retail prices of infant milk powder.

Look at the spike in Milk Powder prices. My Teh C Peng also never increase so much over the years.

It is not like there is a difference between a Gong Cha and a Teh C Peng leh.

Cheapest Milk Powder in Singapore

A check on the cheapest newborn milk powder (Einmilk Step 1) cost S$39.

So in comparison, you are switching from a Gong Cha of S$5.50 to another Teh C Peng of S$3.90.

VS

Like that you will switch meh? I so "Neow", I will not switch also. The percevied value different.

But if they drop to S$20  - S$25. I may consider giving it a try.

Update: The Real Cheapest Milk Powder in Singapore

Along the way, I realized there is an even cheaper milk powder in Singapore.

The brand Australia's Own Diamond Infant Milk Formula - Stage 1 from NTUC.

It was launched after Einmilk launched their "affordable" baby milk powder

So happen that there is a nutrition facts to compare.

Nutrition Facts Comparision

So we did a comparison with Aptamilk Stage 1.

No wonder S$35 a tin lah.. And for S$35 it is considered expensive already.

So now you have a Koi Bubble, that cost S$5.50; But they have pearl and herbal jelly toppings, and upsize to large.

They even give you a big straw to suck up the pearls, and the young cafe staffs to say bye bye see you again.

Where else, the Teh C Peng, has no topping. Just plain Teh C Peh, charge you S$3.50. Give you the transparent Kopi Tiam straw.

Sticking to Branded Milk Powder

With such comparision, no wonder people will buy and stick to the branded milk powder.

Australia's Own Diamond Infant Milk Formula come out with a cheap price tag, but no "features" at all. and they are even selling more expensive than Aptamil in Australia.

So end day, people will still buy the S$5.20 Gong Cha or the S$5.50 Koi because the perceived value is higher.

Same like why you buy IPhone also.

So whenever your friend complain milk powder expensive, you bio their hp to see is it IPhone Xs. This means they high SES.

Where to buy?

So what is the purpose of this post then since we cannot buy the cheapest milk powder in Singapore?

Haha..

You can do so actually while you are in Singapore.

3 Ways - Cheapest Milk Powder in Singapore

There are 3 ways to get the cheapest milk powder while you are in Singapore.

First is via Shopee.

Shopee is an online eCommerce platform that sells stuffs online. So I happen to chance upon shopee and found out that they also have Baby Milk Powder on sales.

Apparently, you have pre-order your milk powder with Shopee and they will "daigou" your milk powder over.

So apparently, the seller also buy from Austraila. So it is more for pre-order than you collect later.

If you are in a rush, then you buy from local supermarket better.

My Shopee Referral Code

So now, for the same Gong Cha, you can have it for S$3.50 instead of S$5.20.

Remember to key in my referral code to get S$10 off your first purchase.

So like that you save S$10 leh!

Second is via Airfrov.

Airfrov is also an online platform which connects buyers and travellers. For example, the travellers travel to Australia for work/leisure. Then buyers offer a price to buy the milk powder from the Australian stores.

So for example, the Nan Optipro stage 1 cost around S$21 in the stores. So buyers will offer a slight higher price for the travellers to purchase.

Travellers will pocket the remaining after deducting the service fee.

Getting Baby Milk powder using the Airfrov method is so popular that they even have a FAQ for it.

This is one of the ways you can shop internationally. A browse on their website, you can get the Nan Optipro at S$28 each.

Wah Sai! My Gong Cha now S$2.80 ! Okay leh!

But the trouble is you need to go to Airfrov office to pick up or arrange with the buyer.

My AirFrov Referral Code

If you wanna buy via Airfrov, remember to quote my airfrov referral code (UXBCZ). You get S$10 credit, I also get S$10.

Third Way - The most Cheapo Way

If you have friends flying to Australia or New Zealand, can ask them to help you "daigou" over.

The most you treat them drink Gong Cha instead of Teh C Peng lor.

If I am not wrong, now can buy up to 2 tins. But if they are travelling they usually travel in groups. So the friend's friend or colleague can help to chip in another 2 tins.

So end day, this is how and where you can get the cheapest baby milk powder in Singapore.

To Put Things into Perspective

With the new IPhone Xs, you can buy 31 Nan Optipro in Singapore. If you are living in Australia, one Tin you save more than 50%, You can buy 78 tins of Milk powder in Australia versus purchasing an Iphone Xs.

If your LO is taking 1 week to finish a tin; 31 tins can last you at least 4 months.
