We Went to the Zoo on a Weekday and it was Sibei Awesome!

By Money Saving Daddy

Before Covid, going to zoo is really a pain. Need to go early, need to squeeze with people, need to rush to chope seats for animal shows.

Now covid times, the weekend will also be very busy although at 75% of capacity.

So 1 day our cousin jio us + Loti + Sushi + Oli go on a weekday. We were thinking hey why not?

So we booked a Monday to go. - 10am

Book Slots

Because on a Monday, the slots are “always” available compared to the weekend. So we book a 10am slots.

Then she ask, eh.. Wanna Buy Animal feed anot? $5 per feed.

I’m those stingy kias thinking. Wah lau, why need to spend money feed animals sia. Buy 2 feed per session some more.

Zoo has 5 feeding sessions, and we are booking 4 leh.

So $40 feed the animals leh!!

But anyways, we still book 2 feeds per session except for the tortoise feeding. Because only left with 1 feed.

Zoo Day

Waking up to going to the zoo, Loti was so excited as we already pet talk her to sleep early the night before. So she has the energy to chiong and play.

However, on the way to the Zoo, it started pouring heavily. We reached there 10.30 am but raining.

New Carpark

Our memory of the Zoo is an open drop off point. If rain so big sure kena drenched one. But wah, heng leh. They build a new multi-storey carpark with a sheltered drop off point linking all the way to the entrance of the zoo!

Awesome leh!

Chillax at KFC

KFC has also shifted. It was previously along with the old drop off point, left side of the entrance. Now they shifted to the right but smaller liao.

So heng it was a weekday, we still manage to get a seat for 5 pax.

So we chillax at KFC till 12pm then we started going in.

Although we book our slots at 10am, prior to chillax at KFC.

Our cousin went to enquire if we can go in later. So they said okay that’s why we chillax first.

See White Tiger - 12.30pm

Most of the time, we see the white tiger nuaing on a sunny day. I duno izzit because it rained earlier.

The white tiger was taking a stroll in the water. Wah seh, how many times you get to see the tiger strolling.

Tortoise Feeding - 1.15pm

The first feed was supposed to be the goat feeding - 11.30am. But because of raining, it was cancelled.

So we went for the tortoise feeding at 1.15pm.

I tell you man! This $5 is super well spent. I was thought is throw the feed to the tortoise from afar.

No leh, this is upclose and personal. You can pat the tortoise, touch the leg, pat the head, touch the shell.

The Zoo assistant was there to assist and provide you with interesting insights on the tortoise. Where is the best place to pat them, where to avoid?

Because I very scare the tortoise snap at your fingers leh.

My Laobu always tell me tortoise bite you won’t let go one. So I very wary. But the kids all sibei enthusiastic. All go near near to feed the tortoise.

The zoo assistant was there but they didn’t really stop them from going near. So I guess the tortoise probably won’t bite bah.

So 1 feed is like 10 tomatoes. Then no more liao. Where got enough to share with 2 kids?

So next time, per session really need 2 feeds!

Very interactive experience! I will pay $10 for this session.

Reptopia - Snacking + Rest Time - 1.45pm

After 30mins at the Tortoise feeding session, we went to find a cooling place to chillax and jiak our snacks.

We found this reptile exhibition area with aircon. Mai Tu liao lah. Go in tuang and siam the mosquito.

While feeding the tortoise, I’m also feeding the mosquito lor. I don’t know why but today I’m the mosquito.

So already put 2 mosquito patch and bua alot ointment still kena bit till buay tahan.

Seat Carousel - 2.30pm

Since the Reptile place is near to the kidzworld which also means KFC is there. Might as well go there and get a drink while the kids get on the carousel.

Feed Goats (Inserted)

As we missed the earlier Goat Feeding at 11.30am and it is at the kidzworld. Cousin actually went to approach the staff and check if we can feed the goats.

Guess what?

They said yes! And loti and Oli are happily feeding the goats! At least we didn’t waste $20 for the goat feeds.

Experience Rating: 8/10

Feed Giraffe - 3.45pm

So there was a platform for feeding the giraffe. (Of course lah, then you feed on ground level meh)

Then the giraffe stretches their neck over and jiak the feed. The kids are having so much fun!

Experience Rating: 8/10

Feed Elephant - 4.30pm

From the feed giraffe place, need to walk to the feed elephant place.. It’s like another 10 mins walk.

The elephant feeding session was quite structured. You get your queue number, get your basket of feeds which consist of carrot, banana and cabbage.

Then you stand there and feed. The kids enjoyed so much on the feeding that the elephant cannot eat in time.

So always buy 2 feeds! 1 is not enough.

But because there are only 2 elephants and there is a queue behind, it seems like we are being rushed to feed the elephants. And of course, we cannot touch the elephants. Later kena grab by them then ho seh liao.

Experience Rating: 7/10

Splash Safari Show - 5pm

While heading for the elephant feeding, we passed by the splash zone animal show. They display a QR for the visitors to scan and book their animal show slots.

I think this is a good initiative because we are guaranteed a slot and also no need to physically queue there.

So we head to the animal show at 5 pm and was ushered to the bench, 2nd and 3rd from the front. You can even walk in and get a seat because it is a weekday.

You won’t be able to get this experience during weekends lor.

PS: the first 2 rows are splash zone, if you wanna get the splash thrill, then seat there.

Sibei Fun Zoo Day!

This marks the end of our Zoo fun day!

Indeed going on a weekday is sibei enjoyable. Although it rained in the morning, it is also cooler. The animals are strolling around their habitats instead of hiding in one corner.

So if you have the opportunity to go to the zoo on a weekday, please do!

Because lesser crowd, lesser queue, more space, more enjoyable.

Overall Experience Rating: 8.5/10
