And so, we spent 4 Days 3 Nights in Mount Alvernia Maternity Hospital when Mummy delivered French Fries. The entire experience in Mount Alvernia Hospital for maternity is a pretty good one.
As Mummy went through Caesarean section, so we stayed for 3 Nights at the hospital.
We opted for the St Michel Suite because we hear say the ward is new and usually new things are more better.
But because the St Michel suite is full, so we have to go for the Lady’s ward.
Sway Sway we kena the first ward #331, that is super duper small.
Then I was thinking, it was a blessing in disguise. Because the ward is so small, that not many people can hang around there. Then maybe Mummy will have enough rest.
We were still contemplating if we should get the upgrade anot.
But Heng we got the upgrade. The other ward #319 was so much bigger. I can extend my leg on the sofa bed. We can put more gifts on the table and not so cluttered too.
Our review of Mount Alvernia
Mount Alvernia Hospital is a 304-bed private hospital with tertiary medical capabilities and two multi-disciplinary medical specialist centres.
The hospital is supported by over 1,200 accredited doctors, with more than 160 specialists on-campus.
Mount Alvernia Hospital is located at 820 Thomson Road
Why did we select Mount Alvernia?
The serenity.
Mount Alvernia is situated along Thomson road and the whole place seem to be peaceful and away from the busy city life.
You probably not see alot A & E patients rushing in. Well suited for maternity in my opinion.
Plus it is very convenient for us to drive to Mount Alvernia also.
Review of Parking at Mount Alvernia
One of the reasons why we chose Mount Alvernia is the ample parking capacity. They have a new multi-storey carpark that has sufficient parking spaces.
So you can come to check in any time you like and not worry about parking spaces.
Review of Maternity Pre-admission Services
There is a lot of admissions to be done when Mummy is admitted to the labour ward.
So many papers to sign and mummy is in pain. So, just be patient and the midwives and nurses will care for Mummy while you are busy signing all the documents.
Review of Nurses services
We had a positive experience with the services from the nurses at Mount Alvernia. They were polite and make us feel at ease and even we beeped them for the slightest clarification.
They attended us with a smile.
But there is one particular nurse that we felt uncomfortable with as we were not familiar if we should let Baby drink formula milk as Mummy was not latching well.
And i noticed there was a highlight if the weight drops below 10%.
So we were asking the nurse in this circumstances, what should new parents do?
She replied it is up to you to decide if you want to top up with formula milk. And kept saying up to us.
Of course is up to us, but we needed some advice, and still reply up to us.
I guess it may be because they had the previous encounter of promoting breastfeeding and got numerous complaint on it. Hence, all leave it to the parents to decide.
Other than this, we were pretty satisfied with the nurses' service.
Review of Mount Alvernia Confinement Food
Aiya, they all say hospital food cannot eat one lah. But this time at Mount Alvernia is a different story. On the first day, most of the meals I ordered were western. And nothing to be excited about. But when I tried Mummy’s confinement meal. MIND BLOWN!
It is just fish porridge with some minced vegetables and it is so tasty! So, I requested the nurse to change all my meals to Chinese meals. The only difference between the Chinese meal and the confinement meal is the soup.
And there was once they forgot my lunch order. I was so upset that I went to request for it.
The nurse must be thinking. This guy siao one, hospital food also so upset for what.
Review of the Discharging Process
Often we hated the discharging process because a lot of administrative to do. But when doing pre-admission, we opted for express discharge.
So all the billing and paperwork will be sent to your address. So you can just wait for the doctor to give clearance
Additional Perks
Mount Alvernia provides complementary blessing services to your newborn. You can opt for it and it will be done when you are discharged with your newborn. Some sweet little thoughts from the hospital.
You can opt for it even if you are a non-catholic.
Overall
Overall, we had a positive stay at Mount Alvernia Maternity Hospital and will definitely recommend to parents whom are still choosing their option.
