Birth of our Journey

By Money Saving Daddy

I am already a Stay at Home Husband and a Stay at Home Dad (to be) in July. We are currently based in France, and relocating back to Singapore in May.

During our home trip to Singapore, we got to find out that Mummy is pregnant!

Congratulations to us! We were surprised and excited at that time. Because we still have some travel plans in winter! This is a blessing.

While we are in Singapore, we had arranged for a health check-up and this is when we got the positive news. And it is at the 5th week.

Rejected by Gynecologist

So we tried to make an appointment with the local gynaecologist for a professional advice. To our surprise, we got rejected by the clinic assistant. She mentioned it is too early for a scan or see a doctor. It is usually done at the 8th week.

But I told her, I will be flying back to France in a few days' time; So we need some doctor's professional advice and the timeline for the next appointment. I had to explain to her my worries of not being able to get a doctor in France.

Arranging a medical appointment takes months to do. So we are very kiasu about it. She told me that I could search for this advice online.

WOW! If all these can be researched online, why do we even need a doctor? Funny right?

But in the end, we managed to secure an appointment to see the gynaecologist. Of course, we have back up doctors to contact.

And when Mummy is at her 5th week, you have to do a scan through the vagina (endovaginal examination), because you will not be able to see anything from the scan of the womb.

The doctor explained to us on what we will be expecting to see from the scan, and he assured us everything is fine at the moment, and advise to us to come back a week later for a follow-up.

Next Follow Up

We were relieved that everything is all right, and the doctor also prescribe some vitamin D, folic acid and Duphaston.

Back in France

When we are back in France, we were quite lucky to get a gynaecologist arranged 1 month later. Faster than what we expected.

So along the way, we researched for some information but most of the information was all over the internet. Hence, we decided to start a blog to document our journey.

And me, being a frugal guy - parenting blog from a money-saving perspective will be useful for our readers here. So at times, we will have some money saving articles.

Singapore is already the crowned the most expensive country in the world. So, we should share our money saving methods and tips whenever we can.
